October 30, 1775

A Revised Committee of Seven “to consider fitting out armed vessels,” is created to help secure the common defense.

The Committee appointed to prepare an estimate, &c brought in their report, which was considered.

Resolved, That a committee of Seven, with a quorum of Four, be added to the Committee of Three to consider fitting out armed vessels for the protection and defense of the united Colonies, as the Congress shall direct. The members chosen: Stephen Hopkins, Joseph Hewes, Richard Henry Lee, and John Adams.

The Convention of New Jersey recommended field officers to command the two battalions raising in that Colony and that this be taken into consideration tomorrow.

A letter from Walter Livingston, 18th October was read, and Ordered to lie on the table to be considered tomorrow.

Adjourned to 10 o’Clock tomorrow.
